Burt and Martin are childhood friends. Friends for over thirty years, they often think back to the times spent tinkering on Martin’s seven acre childhood property. Like most teens with property, they often crafted what they needed, because they had the time, space and tools. These things ranged from pistol and bow shooting to crafting boomerangs out of fine wood or even pulling the engine out of Martin’s Camaro. Growing up they did martial arts together, and this probably had the biggest impact on the perspective they hold for a lifestyle of fitness. They eventually grew up, got good careers, both found wonderful women and got married. Burt and Martin take pride in being good family people and fulfilling our duties as parents to their great children. Both Burt and Martin consider themselves spiritual people and try to guide their interactions with others based on those principles. All in life turns out good, sometimes you wait for it, but it always ends up right.
Burt and Martin both bought Glock 34’s in 2006 and began shooting USPSA competitions. They were excited and challenged by this type of shooting. Burt initially classified as a “B” class shooter and Martin as a “C”. In October of 2008, Martin stayed the weekend at Burt’s house to compete in the two day BAY BRIDGE CHARITY CLASSIC, which helps raise money for the Marines Corps, Toys for Tots program. After the first day of shooting, Burt showed Martin an airsoft pistol he had purchased. That night they shot water bottles, card board and whatever else was in the garage that would react to a hit with that airsoft pistol. They were both amazed at how similar it was to the movement in USPSA competitions. Both Burt and Martin have always been competitive minded and knew they wanted to get better at action pistol. As with most people, time for training is an issue, especially if you have a career and family. The idea of Burt and Martin Airsoft was born, hence BAM Airsoft. Burt and Martin have designed and fabricated some awesome airsoft targets, several being the first ever of its kind, namely BAM’s airsoft star, a swinger and a full set of scaled steel challenge targets. These targets for airsoft allowed them to train in the comfort of their garage, whenever they wanted. 2009 proved to be an awesome year for Burt and Martin. Without changing their regularity of going to the real range, but focusing on airsoft at home, Burt has moved into “A” class for Production, Limited, and Open and Martin easily slid into “B” class. They are under no illusion that this is a magic pill, but they cannot ignore that this has helped them fine tune their skills and made it darn fun for them. See you on the range, DVC.
